Pay monthly solar FAQs in Scotland

Answers to the questions Scottish homeowners ask us about paying monthly for solar panels and battery storage — ownership, installation, VAT, surveys and how finance works.

Speak to a solar adviser about your home — Loans available, subject to status.

Can I really pay monthly for solar panels and batteries in Scotland?

Yes. We arrange no-obligation surveys and quotes for paid solar PV and battery installations across Scotland, and you can spread the cost. Loans available, subject to status. A representative example is provided with any quote, so you can see exactly how monthly payments would work before deciding.

What do I actually own when I pay monthly?

You are arranging a paid installation of a solar PV and battery system for your home. When the installation is completed and the balance is settled in line with your agreement, you own the panels, the battery and the associated equipment fitted to your property. We arrange the survey and quote; installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner.

Are there any subsidies or schemes I should know about?

We quote for paid installations only. If you want to spread the cost, loans are available, subject to status, and a representative example is provided with any quote. 0% VAT also applies to residential solar panels and battery storage until 31 March 2027, which is reflected in your quote.

What about VAT on solar panels and batteries?

0% VAT applies to the installation of solar panels and battery storage for residential properties until 31 March 2027. This is reflected in the quote you receive. After that date, standard VAT rules would apply, but any quote we provide will set out the position at the time.

How does the survey and quote process work?

You submit your details through our form or call us on 0141 230 0198. We arrange a no-obligation survey of your home, looking at roof orientation, available space, shading and your energy use. We then provide a quote for a paid installation, including a representative example of how monthly payments could work. There is no pressure and no obligation to proceed.

What areas of Scotland do you cover?

We arrange surveys and quotes across Scottish regions, from the Borders and Central Belt through to Tayside, Fife, the North East, the Highlands and the Islands. See our areas covered page for the full regional breakdown, or simply submit your postcode and we will confirm coverage.

Will solar panels and batteries work well in Scotland?

Yes. Modern solar PV panels generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunshine, and they perform well across Scotland. A battery lets you store what you generate during the day to use in the evening and overnight, which is particularly useful over longer winter nights. The survey assesses your specific roof and orientation.

Do I need a battery as well as solar panels?

A battery is strongly recommended alongside solar PV for most Scottish homes because it lets you use more of what you generate, rather than exporting it. The survey will recommend an appropriately sized battery based on your household usage and roof. You can choose to include a battery in your quote or discuss panels only.

Is the installer certified?

We install through MCS-certified partners. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is the recognised quality assurance standard for small-scale renewable installations in the UK, and using MCS-certified installers is a requirement we do not compromise on.

How quickly can I get a survey and quote?

Once you submit the form or call us, we aim to make contact promptly to arrange a convenient time for your no-obligation survey. Timings depend on demand in your area and the time of year, but we will keep you informed throughout. There is no obligation at any stage.
